Paul studied fine art at Manchester Polytechnic before taking
up a career in graphic design and illustration. Since then
he has worked for a variety of clients in the Uk, Europe
and the USA. From 1987 onwards he
has been a partner in a local graphic design company.
Paul works from sketches and photographs,
using them as a drawing aid to capture images that he edits
to use as a framework for a painting or print.
" I take motifs - such as a typical arch,
a palm leaf, a patch of tiled floor, a shop front, a figure
- and put them together to create an impression - maybe a
street scene or a building. It's a symbolic rather than a
visual representation."
He exhibits in mixed shows and exhibitions across the UK.
